Mothers Day sessions

This week we look back on some of our favourite mother and daughter/son sessions in the studio.  From locations to studio and whatever age you are these are always such worthwhile sessions.  To have a photograph of yourself and your mum, parents or significant other I just don’t think its something you will ever regret doing.  So hi to all the mums out there for being such legends and get in touch if you would like to book in a mothers day session with your special person this mothers day.

What does MYOB have to do with portraiture?

Last month gorgeous Brooke of “Brooke’s Books” came to the studio for some new corporate shots.  We got talking about all things TAX ( stick with me here! ) check out a bit about Brooke below and her gorgeous new corporate shots she is now using for her business.
Who are you?
I am a registered BAS Agent, award winning MYOB certified consultant and the owner of a Bookkeeping and Consulting company.
What do you do?
My aim is to assist and empower small business owners, especially women, in managing their business finances. The majority of my time is spent consulting with new and existing business owners on the correct accounting software package and providing assistance in the areas they maybe struggling with.
What is your business?
We provide a variety of services which include;  accounting software solutions, one on one and group training, consulting, as well as a range of bookkeeping and BAS services. We also work in conjunction with the two leading software companies in Australia, MYOB and Xero.
How does your business help the busy woman today?
My business focuses on the day to day running of a small business. I find the majority of my clients feel overwhelmed when it comes to keeping their BAS up to date or remembering when they need to lodge their superannuation. With our focus on cloud accounting, we take the pressure off managing GST, invoices, expenses and payroll. At Brooke’s Books we are a support hub which give the business owners freedom to get back to what they do best.
Where have you used your new headshot?
I had my photos taken for the Every Women Expo which I attended this year. One of the photos was blown up to a life size poster and was used on the walls of my display stand. I have also used the photographs for business cards and brochures.

Interview with life coach Elise Carr

Last month model and life coach Elise Carr visited our studio.  After her session we sat down and chatted about herself, her role as a life coach,  her insight into the world of Tantra and I have to ask her for her yummy recipe for her Naked Model Shoot Bomb Raw treats!!

Enjoy ladies till next time

Stef – Beautiful You xxxDSC_5434low

Can you tell us a bit about yourself? I’m a holistic life empowerment coach with a focus on the Divine Feminine and Yoni Power as well as sacred sexuality and spirituality. I work predominantly with women who are ready to step into and live a holistic empowered life from the inside out through bespoke one-on-one coaching, in workshops, talks and through my speaking and writing in Australia and around the world. I’m also a Reiki master, Tantra practitioner, artist and model, currently writing my second book on the power of the yoni!

How did you begin? My work must have started in the womb as I have always felt a calling to learn, gather and apply as much knowledge and wisdom as possible to assist and guide others to shine their light brightest for the greater good.

What is StellaMuse? StellaMuse is a platform to bring together all of what I do to share with an international tribe of StellaSouls so they may insight action in their own lives! On stellamuse.com I aim to inspire and ignite a flame of inner knowing, a belief in self, to fuel an unwavering commitment to a holistic life – be it by finding life purpose and changing your career, awakening your sacred sexuality personally and in your relationships, healing traumas, clearing stagnation and further expanding your consciousness to connect deeper with yourself, your beloved and unity with all.

What events do you having coming up? My next event is the Stella Shakti Temple at Yoga Alchemy in Northbridge on Sunday August 30th. This is a sacred, safe space offering potent, juicy, wisdom to enrich, awaken and empower your life in a practical way while connecting your physical, mental, energetic and emotional selves. Part of what the women attending will learn includes how to awaken their Divine Feminine Shakti and how to apply Divine Shakti Energy in the every day. The ladies will learn about the Yoni and apply its power to change their life from the inside out. There will also be a raw vegan high tea dessert, guided mediation and workbook. Ladies can CLICK HERE for details and tickets

Any advice to woman about how to rekindle, rediscover their sexuality? Start with yourself, by yourself. As women we are programmed to give and put others first, thus wanting to please our partner before ourselves. But to truly connect with another on an intimate, heart connected, soul entwined level, you must first commit to exploring, owning and honouring your Divine self and all of who you are.

The Stella Sensual Rekindling is something I suggest to clients and which I enjoy practicing myself:

  • Start with creating a time and space just for you (on your bed, on a cushion in front of a mirror, on a towel in the backyard!)
  • Slow down and connect with your body temple
  • Breathe. Complete deep breathing has the power to transform your life!
  • Relax into the physical connection by being alert to your emotions. How do you feel? What feels nice? What makes you feel sexy? Awakened? Light? Safe? Protected? Nurtured?
  • Notice the energy shifting in your body. What are the subtle effects inside of you that you can begin to notice and become aware of?
  • Enjoy this, sit with this, breathe this in, allow it to move through you
  • When you feel ready say thank you to your perfect, Divine body temple and all that you are
  • Know you can come back here, create this space and reconnect with yourself whenever you choose

Can you share your yummy raw chocolate recipe of those amazing treats you brought to the shoot?

Sure, my Model Shoot Bombs are a fav raw organic treat of mine to whip up for the team, to enjoy after a shoot or as an after dinner delight!

* All ingredients are organic, pure and sourced locally when possible

Naked Model Shoot Bombs:

3 cups of cashew/hazelnut mylk pulp (after you make some Amazing nut Mylk use the pulp that is left over to up-cycle as the base of your Bombs!)

3 heaped tbs of organic almond butter (I’m a fan of Artisan)

6 pitted and soaked medjool dates

½ tsp of Himalayan salt

½ tsp of pure vanilla bean powder

¼ tsp of cinnamon

2-3 tbsp of maple syrup

3 tbsp of cacao nibs

2-3 heaped tbsp of cacao powder

1-2 heaped tbsp of carob powder

3 tbsp of coconut oil (I love Wild Harvest)

3 tbsp of macadamia oil

  • Combine in a food processor or mix by hand for a chunkier consistency.
  • Shape into marble size or golf ball size balls and place in the freezer to set.

Model Shoot Bomb choc coating:

1 cup raw cacao powder

½ cup of Jarrah honey – as it’s medicinal! (For a pure vegan option you can use maple syrup, Agave syrup or brown rice syrup – please note Agave is very sweet while the brown rice syrup is not as potent, so play with your measurements for your ideal sweetness!)

½ cup of coconut oil

½ tsp of sea or Himalayan salt

(You may enjoy adding a couple of drops of essential peppermint oil if you desire an extra choc minty taste to bite into!)

3 tbs of cacao butter (melted using the double boiler technique)

  • Once you melt the cacao butter add your coconut oil to blend in with and combine.
  • Add the rest of the ingredients and stir until an even consistency is made.
  • Prepare a flat dish, tray or plate suitable for the freezer and line it with bake paper to ensure your Bombs don’t stick.
  • Removed the naked Model Shoot Bombs from the freezer and place them one at a time on a large fork – individually dip and roll them around in the raw chocolate.
  • Place them one at a time back on the lined dish of choice with a small gap between each.
  • Once you have coated each of them once pop the Bombs back in the freezer and allow them to set for 2-3 minuets before removing them and repeating the dipping process another 1-2 times. (Triple coated is heavenly!)
  • Once double or triple dipped return the Bombs back into the freezer and allow them to set for at least an hour.
  • Serve your Model Shoot Bombs on their own as a dessert or enjoy with a warm mug of chai or herbal tea. They are perfect after your shoot or at the end of the day!

If you love those you’ll also love Super Stella Bliss Bombs

With Love, Elise. XOX

how did you find the experience of getting your photo taken

One of the most fascinating parts of the Beautiful You Studio is that everyday we are blown away by the incredible woman who walk through our door! Meet Louise she’s awesome! Louise visited the studio for new corporate shots to use across her social media and work platforms :)  I sat down with Louise after her session and asked her a few questions :)

Q – who are you and what is your profession?
My name is Louise Archer and  I work for Toshiba Medical Systems as Global Marketing Manager for Ultrasound, based in Nasushiobara in Japan. I’ve spent most of my life working in clinically in Diagnostic Imaging and the last 15 years in the corporate environment with Toshiba.  I love the company I work for, amazing people, doing amazing things on a daily basis..
Living in Japan is a wonderful

cultural experience which I am really embracing.
Q – what brought you to the studio to get new corporate images?
A couple of reasons, firstly because of my job, people need a good photo for various events and I only had an old iPhone picture that I used, it didn’t look very professional and so I thought an update was in order.
Secondly, part of the getting “into” the culture has got me writing a blog called “Just Life (in Japan)” and also writing for the tourist website “Japan Travel” amongst other things.
I worked out I have about 10 different online photos representing the sites and social networks I used, so I was keen to get one great photo and use it everywhere..
Q – how did you find the experience of getting your photo taken
I loved it, it was very casual and relaxed, having hair and makeup done all in one place made it easy.   I really loved that we used natural light for the photos…  Plus they turned out great, so I couldn’t be happier.  I’ve spent the morning changing my “profile pic” on 14 different sites :-)
The makeup was also great, I left the studio and went and got my passport photo done – first decent passport photo I have ever had !
To see some of the amazing pics an stories from louise’s adventures in Japan her blog can be found here http://louozinjapan.blogspot.com.au  Also see if you can find her new updated Beautiful You headshot! looks great!

what brought you to the studio to get new corporate images?

continuing our Woman of Perth project today we are featuring Sam Burling from Seuss&Co  on the blog who recently came into the studio for some new work shots we sat down with Sam after her shoot and asked her a few quick questions

Q – who are you and what is your profession?
I am Sam Burling from Seuss & Co. I work as a freelancer and consultant managing event sponsorship and corporate partnership solutions, marketing and brand development, and events. I also spend a big chunk of my week working with the Royal Flying Doctor Service managing their corporate partnership program and events.
Q – Do you work with a lot of woman in your field?
Yes! I love to find role models within the industry or simply women who speak my language and provide feedback on their own entrepreneurial journeys – everyone has a story and I love to hear them.
Q – what brought you to the studio to get new corporate images?
I think it’s important to have your own personal brand, especially when you have your own company and you are your very own ambassador.
Q – how did you find the experience of getting your photo taken
To be honest, I hate having my photo taken, in fact I cringe at the thought, but Stef and her team were so lovely and relaxed it made it less of a chore and something I would recommend to others in my position.

Woman of Perth project – the amazing woman behind the images

todays blog post is today of amazing lady Clare Ryan who was in need of new head shots for work. Such an inspirational hard working woman! Ive never laughed so much during a photo shoot.. I’m actually surprised these are in focus!!! only kidding :) read her interview below to get a little insight into the day to day life behind the glossy pages of Scoop magazine xxxx

DSC_6528

Q –   what do you do for a job?  I have many hats at Scoop Publishing so it’s really hard to explain. I’m a fashion editor, editor and stylist. I look after our health and beauty pages as well as mens and womens fashion. I’m responsible for our main cover shoot, homes and interior shoots, as well as being editor of an additional five magazines from our homes and design series.

so whats its like being a fashion editor? It’s fun, I love it. I get to discover what’s going on with our local designers, boutique owners, and amazing talented creatives – photographers, makeup artists, models etc. I love that our publication focuses on the talent in our state. I get to be creative and I really try and push Scoop’s boundaries as well as my own.

is it as glamour as everything things?  Not at all. I’m still writing and organising things that I did when I first started. For our fashion shoot/cover I have to organise everything from the model and style/direction to the taping of the shoes and the food that we all eat on the day. It’s hectic, but I love it. I love the rush of an amazing shoot and holding the magazine in my hand once it’s printed.

whats the best and worst ( hardest ) thing about your job – The best part is seeing all of your hard work come together to produce a lovely publication. The worst? HA! Um, besides constant deadlines I think the hardest part is trying to come up with something original/new for the reader to see. Just when I have an idea for a shoot or an article, someone else prints it a day or so later, so I’m constantly having to rejig ideas and angles. I want to offer something fresh and original. Not copied.

how long has it been since you updates your corporate head shot? 10 years. My last headshot was taken on a friends camera before we were heading out to a lunch haha, I don’t think I even did my hair properly. We just took it in my backyard in five seconds.

how did you find having your hair and makeup done by a professional makeup artist? So much fun. It’s interesting how you look after having professional hair and makeup, it’s worth it.

how did you feel getting your portrait taken? It felt so odd having Stef take my picture because normally I’m with her watching the model get photographed. It was fun, I felt more comfortable outside the studio though and Stef was laughing just as much as I was. I just can’t be serious, as much as I try.

Where are you going to use your new images? I needed a few different options for work. Different magazines I work on have different markets, as well as freelance work that I do. I love the outside images because they really reflect who I am, but I love that we also took studio images because sometimes I have to give black and white headshots.

A new shoot style

A few weeks ago I was lucky to have gorgeous model Georgia Gibbs stop by the studio to shoot for an ongoing project I’m currently shooting called 5min with for online blog Style Voyeur its a very candid raw photo session and and interview with the model involved. You can see it here online  http://stylevoyeur.com/2015/03/5minwith-georgia-gibbs/

This got me thinking of the way photography is changing and the style of womans photography is changing  I guess maybe we are more liberal than every before and we don’t feel scared to embrace who we are and show it through photographs that we can keep as memories forever. So last week I tried this really raw lighting style with a pre wedding shoot client and the results were amazing!!  A modern approach to shooting sexy photographs of woman which is both classy and sexy all at the same time. I would love to know what you think! If you came in for a photo session would you like this style of shooting?
