Mothers Day sessions

This week we look back on some of our favourite mother and daughter/son sessions in the studio.  From locations to studio and whatever age you are these are always such worthwhile sessions.  To have a photograph of yourself and your mum, parents or significant other I just don’t think its something you will ever regret doing.  So hi to all the mums out there for being such legends and get in touch if you would like to book in a mothers day session with your special person this mothers day.

how did you find the experience of getting your photo taken

One of the most fascinating parts of the Beautiful You Studio is that everyday we are blown away by the incredible woman who walk through our door! Meet Louise she’s awesome! Louise visited the studio for new corporate shots to use across her social media and work platforms :)  I sat down with Louise after her session and asked her a few questions :)

Q – who are you and what is your profession?
My name is Louise Archer and  I work for Toshiba Medical Systems as Global Marketing Manager for Ultrasound, based in Nasushiobara in Japan. I’ve spent most of my life working in clinically in Diagnostic Imaging and the last 15 years in the corporate environment with Toshiba.  I love the company I work for, amazing people, doing amazing things on a daily basis..
Living in Japan is a wonderful

cultural experience which I am really embracing.
Q – what brought you to the studio to get new corporate images?
A couple of reasons, firstly because of my job, people need a good photo for various events and I only had an old iPhone picture that I used, it didn’t look very professional and so I thought an update was in order.
Secondly, part of the getting “into” the culture has got me writing a blog called “Just Life (in Japan)” and also writing for the tourist website “Japan Travel” amongst other things.
I worked out I have about 10 different online photos representing the sites and social networks I used, so I was keen to get one great photo and use it everywhere..
Q – how did you find the experience of getting your photo taken
I loved it, it was very casual and relaxed, having hair and makeup done all in one place made it easy.   I really loved that we used natural light for the photos…  Plus they turned out great, so I couldn’t be happier.  I’ve spent the morning changing my “profile pic” on 14 different sites :-)
The makeup was also great, I left the studio and went and got my passport photo done – first decent passport photo I have ever had !
To see some of the amazing pics an stories from louise’s adventures in Japan her blog can be found here http://louozinjapan.blogspot.com.au  Also see if you can find her new updated Beautiful You headshot! looks great!

Time for an updated profile shot!

I have not had a professional head shot done in over 5 yrs!  I know right..  we all know the saying a plumbers roof leaks all of that..  We finally had a free day on friday and I managed to convince my photographer friend Janet Craig to take some pictures of me in the studio.  its interesting being on the other side of the camera I felt completely not in control ( something I hate I’m such a control freak! ) but at the same time I realised I had to trust My photographer and makeup artist to do there thing.  Im very happy! thankyou team!!! so now you know this is me!!  xxx  Stef

Sometimes the best gift is the one you give yourself.

A little while ago we met Elizabeth. Mum of one she wanted to get some beautiful pictures of herself to remember this time in her life.  I could not have been more blown away by how amazing this young lady was on our shoot day. She knew what she wanted in her shots and i really enjoyed listening to her story. When we got chatting about her makeup look Elizabeth mentioned she never wore makeup and had never had heavy makeup or worn mascarra  so she wanted to experience seeing herself with a heavier makeup look on shoot day.  with her alabaster skin and smoky eyes i think she sure pulls off the look. Can’t wait for Liz to pick up her wall prints on Friday but for now a few of her shots on our new grey studio Set and one on our signature natural light White xxxx Love!!  ps happy Valentines Day!

mums are the best..

One of our favourite shoots to do is our Mother/Daughter sessions.   When Kristale came in for her session with her two beautiful daughters I knew there was some very special shots to be made x  After Kristale’s shoot I asked her a few questions and here is what she had to say about her session..
How did your beautiful you shoot come about ?
My very thoughtful husband got me a voucher for my 30th birthday. He wanted me to feel special and have a memento of how great I looked at 30 to look back on.
Where you nervous before your shoot?
Yes very! I actually told Stef I couldn’t think of anything worse then having photos of myself done.
What was your favourite shot of the day?
The ones of  my girls  and I dressed up in pink fairy dresses it was so fun to do that with them and dance around.
What would you say to woman wanting to do a photo shoot for themselves if you could give one piece of advice?
Just relax and don’t stress about it. The girls will make you feel so comfortable and you will look amazing. I am so so happy with the way my photos turned out and really glad I did it.

How to put the YOU into your photo session

Posted by Stef –

Caitlin booked in for a beautiful me shoot after coming along to one of our studio open days. We got talking and Caitlin started telling me about herself and how she teaches yoga and her philosophy on positive attitude to life. Ive asked Caitlin to put a few words together for me to describe what she does, here are her words :

Yoga relaxes the body and reduces stress, with increased supply of blood and nutrients to the the muscles, it releases connective tissue improving the way we move, feel and function. Helping Improve physical body and emotional state. Poor posture is related to depression, yoga helps align and strengthen your spine and improve posture awareness.

My mission is to show that we can all be happy healthy and free in life. through yoga, meditation, breath work and awareness we reconnect with ourselves and find peace. My style is simple and full of love to create a place for calm healing. I look at the emotional side of physical constraints and disease which is dis ease in the body and our limiting belief systems that hold us back from reaching our true potential.
Our thoughts define us so it is important to bring awareness to what we constantly tell our self.
Our thoughts create our world.
I love working with people and bringing a different perspective to help build positive attitudes. I love being able to be a support so everyone can be themselves completely and release old beliefs that are no longer serving them. I help to ask the question why, which brings about awareness of your thoughts to allow for change.
Gratitude changes your perspective and places you in a state of love, it is truly transformational.
Thank you so much for reading and remember it all starts with loving yourself.
LOVE AND LIGHT
CAITLIN

I must say Caitlin truly inspired me and when she asked me how we would shoot our session I said to her that I wanted to embrace this soft gentle side of hers but also maybe try something a bit different to represent her stronger side and the physical strength her yoga brings to her life and body.   Here are the results below..  I think it just goes to show how important it is to come in to the studio for that pre shoot consultation to really understand and think about before your shoot what it is you want from your session. what is it thats about you that makes you, you? and then let it really shine…   till next time x BeautifulYou
